Le Velo is a restaurant bar located in Sydney along the waterfront. This bar had a second storey vacancy that was designed into a retail space.

This project enabled strong documentation skills through precise and detailed design tools. A lot of consideration was put into the spatial plan of the large venue. Maximizing the usable space to patrons was important but also allowing considerate working space for the employees to work comfortably in such a busy bar. The curtain wall system was non-negotiable and therefore had to be worked around with other elements like furniture and spatial planning. The bar was positioned almost central to the space for ease of access; all of the bar joinery was constructed to Australian standards. The space upstairs was perfect for a separate retail space, this utilises the area without overcrowding the already busy bar. Access to this retail space is easy for visitors; they don't have to walk through the busy bar to get to the stairs - positioning the stairs next to the entrance was a considerate design element. There are two access points to the hallway to the back of house and two access points to the kitchen. This allows for easy traffic flow when taking orders out and bringing them in - one door can be for exit only and the other can be for entry. Overall, this is a successful documentation of key spatial planning aspects for the proposed restaurant bar, Le Velo.
